While laser guides for miter saws have been available as aftermarket add-ons for a few years, this saw is one of the first we've seen from a major brand to incorporate lasers in the design of a saw. The saw itself is the same excellent 12-inch compound miter saw Porter-Cable has been selling without a laser. It has a powerful 15 amp motor, a sliding fence, integrated dust collection, and a comfortable grip. The tool is solidly constructed and designed to stand up to rigorous professional use. The laser system used on this saw works a little differently than some of the available aftermarket systems. Instead of making a single laser line on the lumber showing where the cut will be, this system projects two lines to show the material that will be removed by the kerf of the saw blade. So, as the saw is beveled, the space between the lines gets wider to accurately reflect the extra material taken out by the blade coming in at an angle. The lasers can be adjusted to match the blade you're working with. We were big fans of Porter-Cable's original 12-inch miter saw, and the addition of the twin laser system makes it that much better. --Brian Trinen

I got this for my husband as a gift 3 years ago. WE have both enjoyed the saw. Great for our little home workshop. However this past year the laser quit working and we are unsure how to replace it. Unfortunately the saw is not nearly as convenient without the laser.;

I've owned and intensely used this miter saw for several years (4 remodeling projects). I love the double laser because it gives you the kerf cut. Therefore, rather than 'splitting' a cut in the middle, you can accurately cut to your measurement. I have done a number of 45's for trim work, and it has made great cuts. I have also cut 2x6's, metal and plastic pipe (go very slow bringing the saw down and it won't chip) etc., and it's a horse. Love it and would buy again.;

I love this saw. The accuracy is excellent. I was thinking the laser would be a gimmick, but it's great at defining the kerf before a cut. The only reason for a 4 star instead of 5 is the blade that comes with it is ok but not great. ;
