Product Description ------------------- Like the similar Pokémon craze, the animated Digimon TV series has spawned a full-length theatrical film. The two phenomena are similar: kids collect monsters and go on adventures. While Pokémon has a sense of odyssey and a wisp of a moral, Digimon is flat-out rough-and-tumble adventure. Can an adult figure out the digi-details of the digi-world? Here's a digi-shot. That world is full of evolving monsters that live and fight in their own ways. The digi-world and real world can intermix, and one of the portals is the Internet. So kids sit at their laptops and fight with their digi-monsters in an abstract environment that looks like something from Tron but with none of the cool. The first 50 of 83 minutes is backstory that takes place eight years earlier. So everyone is grown up (as the time frame leaps over all the original Digimon TV shows), and Digimon and humans interact on Earth. A bad digi-virus is bent on revenge, and it will take more than a laptop to defend the planet. That said, if the end of the world ever looms, a golden digi-egg will be a good thing to have. I really love this movie because the animation is a very original style, and though its a bit on the odd-looking style, its decidedly NOT the typical anime. It also has this great fluidity to the way thinsg move in it that I utterly adore. Thedubbers actually did a pretty good job with the translation and music selection. I understand that it was originally three different 'mini movies' in Japan, and the dubbers were able to combine them really well so that the transitions weren't too bad. They all had a connection with one another so it wasn't seperated completely.
All in all, I think this is a great movie if you're a fan of animation and so forth. ;

Digimon - The Movie is a must see for any Digimon fan. Originally the first three Digimon films in Japan, it contains characters and stories from the first two seasons of Digimon, the TV series. Even though it is three different films strung together, the story flows quite nicely from Tai and Kari's first encounter with a Digimon, to the introduction of Diaboromon, to Diaboromon's ghostly viral curse. The film has amazing battle scenes and a beautiful animation style. The story is simple and its basic theme of friendship is a bit childish, but it is a great film nonetheless. Again, I recommend this film for any Digimon fan.;
